Our Workshops:

 

We host free ongoing and one time workshops. If you have skills you would like to share with the community, please contact us! Donations are always welcome.

Bicycle Workshop

Suspended for summer-- check back in September!

 

Our goals in these workshops are

·      to promote the wider use of bicycles as a means of transportation and recreation

·      to increase bicycle safety and enjoyment through teaching people to repair and maintain their own bicycles and improve their riding skills.

 

Open to all ages and riding or mechanical skills. Fix flats, adjust brakes, gears and bearings, do routine maintenance and lubrication and address any other problems you may have with your bicycle.

 

No charge, although we do ask for donations to cover parts and expenses.

 

 

 

Cooking

 

The Flatbush Reformed Church hosts weekly free community meals, Flatbush Mutual Aid often does the cooking. If you love to cook, want to learn to cook, love to eat, and/or love to be involved in your community, please contact us to help

No Sweat Sewing workshop

Suspended for summer-- check back in September!

 

If you want to learn sewing skills, teach others, or simply work on your sewing in a community space, then please join us.

 

Bring a garment or two that need to be repaired, updated, or re-purposed and we will help with ideas and instructions.

 

No charge, although we do ask for donations to cover sewing machine parts and materials.

Flatbush Swap

 

If you have perfectly good appliances, clothing, books, etc, you can come drop them off at our twice monthly Free Store. You're welcome to pick up some new-used things at the same time. This is held each Sunday at 10am in the Tot Lot @ Argyle Road, Brooklyn, NY.

We also have a swap table at our sewing and bike workshops on Saturdays at the Flatbush Reformed Church gym.

Food Rescue

 

We are planning to have an organized community food rescue. We will be working with local businesses to cut down on food waste. Please contact us to help organize and to get involved.
